OSMAN ÖZTÜRK

OSMAN ÖZTÜRK  (b. 1957, in Piraziz, Giresun) was born as a son of a guest worker’s family during the hazelnut harvest time and the tiring return trip from a highland place, accompanied by the humming sounds of the Black Sea’s wild waves in a village of Giresun, which transforms from green to scarlet red color because of the August month’s scorching heat.

He published 6 poetry collections in Turkey. His poems have been translated into 23 languages, rewarded with international prizes in several countries, and many pieces on his lyrics have been composed by renown composers in Turkey. Osman Öztürk’s poetry collections were published in some countries: in Germany, Sommerblau (Verlag Expeditionen, 2018)/Yaz Mavisi [Summer Blue]; O Kadar Yeşildin O Kadar Mavi‒You Were Much of the Green As Well As the Blue (Delisarmaşık, 2017) in Italy, in three languages, La mia Isola (Il Cuscino di Stelle, 2019)/Ada [The Island] and in Spain, in two languages La Densidad De La Noche‒The Heaviness of the Night/Gecenin Karanlığı.

 In his books, Osman Öztürk expresses his feelings ranging from love to loneliness, from joy to sorrow, and the different circumstances of a human being, in the readers’ own tongues. He is able to reflect the genuineness of the folk culture via his lines in a pure and clear fashion.
