Mina DECU

Mina DECU (b. 1983, Craiova), MA in Philosophy and European Studies, former teacher of human and social Studies, former bookseller, editor and marketing manager, currently working as a translator and coordinator of non-formal activities at a school where she teaches creative writing. 

She made a name for herself with her debut volume called Desprindere/Severance (Charmides Publishing House, 2018), which won several awards, including the National Prize for Poetry “Mihai Eminescu” – Opus Primum, Young Poet of the Year” Award in the Young Writers’ Gala and the Debut Prize for Poetry in the APLER Gala. She read in various literature festivals and events. She has published poetry in Romanian and in translation (English, French and Hungarian) in several anthologies and literary journals in Romania and abroad. The English translation of Desprindere, by Anca Roncea and Rajnesh Chakrapani, won the America Pen/Heim Translation Award, and will be published in the United States.
