MIRUNA VLADA

MIRUNA VLADA (b. 1986, in Bucharest) is a writer, feminist activist and researcher in European and Balkan studies. She studied political science in Bucharest, Graz, Berlin and Ljubljana. Since 2013, she has a PhD in international relations at SNSPA (National School of Political Sciences and Public Administration), where she is now teaching and coordinating the Center for European Studies. She published four collections of poetry: Poemextrauterine [EctopicPoems] (Paralela 45 Publishing House, 2004), Pauza dintre vene [The Break between The Veins] (Cartea Românească Publishing House, 2007), Bosnia. Partaj [Bosnia. Partition] (Cartea Românească Publishing House, 2014) for which she received the Poetry Book of the Year Award at the Radio Romania Cultural Awards Gala and most recently Prematur [Prematurely] (Cartier Publishing House, 2021). Her poetry was described as being political, radical and opening new feminist topics in Romanian contemporary poetry. In 2016 she received a Traduki literary residency in Sarajevo. Selections from her poems have been included in several anthologies and translated into 14 languages. She is on the board of PEN Club Romania. She is working on her first novel. In 2022 she was awarded a Writing Residency at the Literarische Colloquium Berlin (Germany).
