NICOLAE COANDE

Nicolae Coande (b. September 23, 1962, Osica de Sus, Olt). He lives in Craiova, where he proposes meetings with Romanian writers, poets, and foreign artists. He has published eleven books of poetry and two lyric anthologies. Most recent, “33 Songs for the Didgeridoo” (Ed. Tracus Arte, 2023). Nonfiction books, interviews, essay, literary criticism. Most recent, “The Poets Hunter’s Handbook”, I-II (Hoffman Publishing, 2021). Poetry awards of the Writers’ Union of Romania for the poetry books “În margine”/ On the edge, respectively “fundătura homer”/ The Homer blind alley (1995, 2002). The “Mihai Eminescu” Award of the Romanian Academy (2017) for the poetry book “Plagiator. 1962”/Plagiarist. 1962. Editor-founder of the Craiova National Theater magazine, “SpectActor” (since 2006). He is the director and moderator of the “SpectActor Meetings”, a cultural event hosted by the Craiova National since 2010, and of the “Poets’ Gathering” event (since 2016). He previously initiated “Poetry Sundays in the theater” (2010-2016). He coordinates the Festival of Literature and Dramaturgy “Patrel Berceanu” (since 2019). Writer in residence in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain. It has been included in anthologies and literary magazines in the USA (Asymptote, Plume, Guernica), Belgium, Germany, Serbia, Turkey, Hungary, Slovenia, Slovakia.
